Charles Bachmann settled in DuPage County in 1846, making him one of the first settlers of the county. He came to this country from Germany. He was a prominent farmer in the area. Charles and his wife Matilda had eight children. Their daughter, Mary, married Fred Boehme of the Boehme family. Their son, Henry, married Bertha Hamann of the Hamann family.
